Mr. Kwok earned his BBA in Business Management from Baylor University in 1991. Mr. Kwok attended Baylor on the Presidential Scholarship and served the Sigma Chi Fraternity as Vice President. In 1993, Mr. Kwok earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center. Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Kwok worked as an associate attorney for a prominent Houston Personal Injury trial lawyer.
A few years after graduation, Mr. Kwok started Robert Kwok & Associates, L.L.P. with one paralegal. In 1998, Mr. Kwok - at age 28 - became one of the youngest Texas attorneys to become Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law. On the road to getting board certified until present, Mr. Kwok has tried over Seventy Five (75) jury trials to verdict, devoting his legal career to representing individuals in civil litigation across the country. Many of Mr. Kwok's jury trials have been followed by local and national news agencies, including the Houston Chronicle, the Galveston County Daily News, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Forbes, BusinessWeek, Bloomberg, USA Today, Fox News, Dow Jones News Wires, and various trial magazines and publications.
Mr. Kwok is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, which signifies Mr. Kwok has reached the pinnacle of professional excellence and has been recognized for his high levels of skill and integrity. For nearly two decades, Mr. Kwok has led the Firm’s litigation team of trial lawyers in protecting and vindicating the rights of people severely injured or killed by the negligence of others. In June, 2005, Mr. Kwok was honored to file the first wrongful death lawsuit arising from the BP Texas City Refinery Explosion which tragically killed 15 workers and injured hundreds of others. In September 2007, Mr. Kwok brought the firm's final BP explosion case to trial, conducting voir dire of over 220 Galveston County residents. Mr. Kwok's case settled after the jury was seated, the evening before opening arguments. The case involved a worker whose life ended within weeks of the explosion. The worker left behind two young sons, and Mr. Kwok was able to obtain a fair settlement for them to secure their financial future.
In June 2004, Mr. Kwok successfully argued and received $18,200,000.00 in damages from a Brazoria County jury against The Union Pacific Railroad. The Brazoria County jury awarded $950,000.00 in actual damages and $17,250,000.00 in punitive damages to the family of a dump truck driver who was killed after a train struck his truck. The jury deliberated for two full days before finding on June 24, 2004 that the Union Pacific Railroad Co. should pay the family of Gary Slater. Mr. Kwok's verdict received national attention and was a "Top 100" Jury Verdict nationwide as reported by American Lawyer Media, Inc. and VerdictSearch. Mr. Kwok gained national attention and recognition for his verdict and efforts to improve grade crossing safety across the nation.
Mr. Kwok speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese, Taiwanese, and is studying Cantonese, Vietnamese and Spanish. Mr. Kwok is a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, and the Asian American Bar Association. Mr. Kwok has previously served as President of the Asian American Bar Association and is a regular sponsor of the AABA yearly judicial banquet and gala. Mr. Kwok is a frequent speaker at various continuing legal education seminars, and has spoken before the Matagorda County Bar Association on several occasions.

In 2004, Mr. Kwok completed his full term on the State Bar of Texas grievance committee, where he judged disciplinary proceedings filed against other attorneys. Mr. Kwok still serves as General Counsel for the Organization of Chinese Americans, Clear Lake Chinese Church, and the Space City Professional Club. In 2005, Mr. Kwok completed his full term as Commissioner Vice Chair for the Houston Police Department, where he judged internal affairs disciplinary proceedings filed against Houston Police Officers.
In addition to managing our Firm’s daily operations, Mr. Kwok enjoys travel, golf, cheffing and dining with his family. To relax, Mr. Kwok plays classical piano and practices Tai Chi. Mr. Kwok is a member of Second Baptist Church and a former director of his married-life class. [Top]
